ATLANTA, GA November 30/PRNewswire/ - Alton Healthcare, led by Dr. Ernie Fletcher, and The Washington Group, led by Mark A. Washington, merge to form DocAlton aimed at improving the lives of 425,000 children and youth in the nation’s foster care system. DocAlton’s focus is on delivering proven solutions to drive improved decision making for providers and care managers in the social services and healthcare managers networks.
The respective CEOs first met during Dr. Fletcher’s role as Governor of Kentucky when Washington served as Kentucky’s Commissioner for Community Based Services leading the charge for the state’s human services system.
“With creativity, passion and better use of resources, we will make innovative changes to focus on improving the health and wellbeing for children, caregivers and parents in the Kentucky foster care system”, stated Washington.
Dr. Fletcher founded Alton Healthcare in 2008 to improve patient engagement and wellness in primary care through cutting edge technology. During the last five years Alton has worked with Emory Healthcare and LiveOn Medical Centers. Dr. Fletcher recently completed a year of service at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) where he served as their Senior Medical Advisor and acting Chief Health Officer helping found the CDC Health and Wellbeing Counsel.
Washington and Governor Fletcher bring together their experiences and shared passion for creating a change for the better in the child welfare system.
“When I first worked for the governor, my job was to figure out what was right for the kids and deliver,” said Mark Washington. “When Governor Fletcher called and asked how we could most effectively improve outcomes in child welfare, I was ready.”
“We need to improve outcomes for our foster youth, there’s too much complexity and disconnectedness in the multiple systems and stakeholders involved in the foster care industry”, stated Dr. Fletcher. “DocAlton’s focus is where government and private sectors work in coordinated responsibility for connecting and delivering services to our most vulnerable populations.”
DocAlton brings together talents that span across medical, clinical, programmatic, revenue cycle management and patient engagement technology for their clients. Utilizing mobility tools, data visibility, and the use of predictive analytics, DocAlton will be working with states, counties, and nonprofits to help them strengthen programs and access crucial information. Our focus is on supporting improved outcomes including child safety, decreased reentry, as well as case manager and foster parent retention. The newly created DocAlton will be headquartered in the Metro Atlanta region and has identified an initial list of strategic projects with state and managed care organizations.
